PALMYRA TOWNSHIP -- The Paupack Plunge always involves getting cold and wet, but Saturday participants saw the chilliest weather since the event started in 2016.

Organizers say that didn't keep the crowd away from the fundraiser for the Ledgedale Dive Team and the Tafton Water Rescue Team in Pike County.

Some plungers dressed as superheroes for their dash into Lake Wallenpaupack, shouting on the way in and out of the water.

In Lackawanna County, the cold kept the sculptures solid and the spectators shivering at the Clark's Summit Festival of Ice.

"I have so many layers on, like three shirts and two pants," said Arithia Nicholson.

Members of the Clarks Green United Methodist Church braved the brisk breeze to hand out hot chocolate and cold cookies.

Just down the road in Chinchilla, the windchill was making Valentine's Day deliveries a bit trickier at McCarthy Flowers.

Deliveryman Ed Connors said, "It's so cold out you can't leave a flower delivery out. You have to make a phone call if someone's not there for a delivery, and then we will bring it back."

Connors says even on the coldest day bringing people beauty leaves him feeling warm.
