MCADOO -- The winter storm is now just a day away.

Depending on here you are will determine how much snow you could see this weekend.

“We're getting ready. That's why we're here,” said Bonnie Maurer.

At Boyer's Market in McAdoo, folks were stocking up on all the necessities to weather a winter storm, leaving some bare spots on the bread shelves.

“We got some milk and some iced tea, some coffee, definitely coffee and a couple of others things that were on sale,” said John Kalinchok.

“Soups, snacks, beef roast, our drinks,” said Maurer.

With the forecast showing Schuylkill County possibly getting anywhere from four to eight inches of snow, many were prepared.

“We already have rock salt at home. We have our shovels ready. They've been ready for a couple weeks now, so we're kind of ready for it,” said Kalinchok.

McAdoo officials say they stocked up on extra salt at the borough building.

“We actually doubled it. We made another bin over there and we doubled our salt bins so we make sure that we have enough for the weekend storm and whatever else is to come,” said Robert Wills, vice president of borough council.

McAdoo's snow ban will go into effect at midnight Friday night and end noon Sunday.

During that time, on-street parking will only be allowed on the side with odd numbered buildings.

“We ask everybody out there to cooperate because it's tough enough the way it is when you got snow like this and if there's one car in the way it kind of makes it ugly for everybody else so the police will be out, we're going to enforce it,” said Mayor Stephen Holly.

But there are some who can't wait for the snow to fall.

“We've been waiting for this for a long time,” said Karleigh Andrasi of Hazleton.

Karleigh has some big plans for the weekend.

“So me and my sister were planning to go make snow angels, snowmen and have a snow fight.”

McAdoo officials want residents to take that snow ban extremely serious, saying police are prepared to ticket or even tow vehicles parked on the wrong side of the street.
