FORTY FORT -- Kids as young as kindergartners were writing in computer code Saturday in Luzerne County. They were part of the Kids Who Code STEM Saturday event held at Wyoming Seminary in Forty Fort.

Dozens of students kindergarten through 8th grade got an introduction to computer science and animation.

Organizers say kids often enjoy the creativity and challenge of the coding activities and they pick up the language very quickly.

"The wonderful thing about coding is not only being a valuable skill in this century and related to careers, it gets students to slow down and think step-wise, and solve problems, again connected to all sorts of areas," said teacher Jill Carrick. "It's also strengthening their thinking and getting them to slow down and think step-wise for logical thinking."

Wyoming Seminary's Robotics Team also had some of its robots on display for the event.
