PECKVILLE- It's Powerball fever all across the country with many hoping they hit big Wednesday night.

At Quinn's Market in Peckville, there were no long lines. Many had cash in hand some with numbers already picked out.

For the Solewater family, they stayed away from the lottery hopefuls because they just aren't interested.

"I think the chances are less when the money goes up and we've never played, so it just doesn't interest me," Joan Solewater said.

With a Powerball jackpot over a billion dollars, you wouldn't expect many people to not buy into the game.

We did find a few non-gamblers like Karen Remock of Blakely.

"Well I never played when it was low, so I just have no interest in playing," Remick said.

"It's nice now, if I had the money I would play it all the time, but I don't have the money right now," Kay Legos of Dickson City said.

By noon, more than 200 tickets were sold at Quinn's Market.

Even though the jackpot has reached $1.5 billion, not everyone is playing.

"Odds are against you for winning because so many people are in on it," Joseph Polansky said.

According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, this now historic Powerball jackpot has been rolling since November 4. Since then, nearly $150 million in Powerball tickets have been sold in Pennsylvania alone.

Ellen Matone says she's skipping out on it and finds a drawing this big to be a waste of money.

"I do. We didn't bother playing it because I think it is a waste. Maybe if it were a smaller pot I would have gone for it, but a jackpot that big, no," Matone said.

The $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot will air just before Newswatch 16 at 11 p.m. on WNEP-TV.
