SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP -- A woman in Lackawanna County celebrated her 105th birthday.
Marian Pysh was born in 1911. At that time, William Howard Taft was president, only eight percent of homes in the U.S. had telephones, and the U.S. wage was 22 cents an hour.
She celebrated her birthday with friends at the Clarks Summit Senior Living Center Monday afternoon where she is a resident.
"Wonderful! I never thought I'd get this far," Pysh said. "Walk, don't smoke. That's all I could tell ya. Good lotta walking."
Marian volunteered for many years at St. Joseph's Center.
