MONTROSE -- A new judge and district attorney will be appointed at the beginning of next year in Susquehanna County. As a result, there were plenty of outstanding cases finished up inside the courthouse on Friday.

Jerry Mast of Hallstead pleaded guilty to third degree murder and criminal conspiracy after authorities said Mast killed Roy Marvin with a steak knife after an argument over drugs in February.

Another suspect, Sarah Briggs, is also accused of helping Mast drag that man's body off a road near Hallstead. She has been ordered to stand trial.

In another case in Susquehanna County, a teacher accused of having sex with a student pleaded guilty.

Megan Clough of Susquehanna pleaded guilty to indecent assault.

Clough taught at Mountain View High School but was charged after admitting to sleeping with an 18-year-old student.

Also in Susquehanna County court, Forest Webster pleaded guilty to third degree murder after killing his brother John.

Back in November of 2013, Webster walked into the Montrose Borough Police Station and told officers he shot his brother in a yard off Route 706 near Montrose. Webster then told police his brother was not rational and that it was a mercy killing.

Webster was sentenced to six to 30 years behind bars. Outside the courthouse, Webster showed little remorse.

Susquehanna County District Attorney Jason Legg will formally be sworn in as judge on January 4. Robert Klein will then take his place as district attorney.
