WBS Pens’ Sullivan Named Pittsburgh Head Coach

The Pittsburgh Penguins fired Mike Johnston Saturday and hours later, promoted Wilkes-Barre/Scranton head coach Mike Sullivan to the same position for the NHL club. Sullivan led the WBS Pens to an 18-5 record so far in the AHL season. Pittsburgh is just 15-10-3, in the middle of the pack in the East. Jay Leach will serve as the Interim Head Coach in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. NHL-great Mark Recchi will assist him. The team says they will conduct a national search and hope to will the AHL opening in the next couple weeks.
