CONYNGHAM TOWNSHIP -- The Good News Bible Church in Locustdale has only been on Main Street for about a year.

But behind the welcome sign is something very unwelcoming. Someone spray painted a profanity on the church's shed.

It happened when volunteers were inside the church getting ready for a holiday fundraiser.

"We went out and found that someone had sprayed our shed with not too good words," said Elaine Fox of Sunbury.

Jamie Willis of Coal Township said, "If I would have seen who it was I would have tackled them and then call the cops."

The church is also home to Blessings to You Ministries, which provides food and clothing to families in need in Columbia county.

Volunteers say last month they helped 250 families and they don't think this is a fair way to be repaid.

"We're trying to help the community here. We're trying to reach out and to see that it really frustrated us," said Fox.

Fox says state police are investigating the vandalism.

"The police think it's kids just playing around. That's what we're hoping it is and it's not really anybody targeting us."

The volunteers hope this is the last time something like this happens.

"Hopefully whoever it was comes forward and apologizes or it won't happen again," said Willis.

The volunteers say the vandalism won't stop them from helping out the community in the future.
