TAMAQUA -- Organizers at Tamaqua's Salvation Army are seeing quite a shift in how people are enjoying their meals through their Thanksgiving dinner.

At first glance, it might look like there was a lot of people coming out to the dinner on West Broad Street. But Salvation Army organizers told us it's actually the opposite. They're dealing with more people this year. It's just people you won't find sitting down at the table.

"We probably have less coming in than we have going out," said Major Sharon Whispell. "We have those who come in and take out because they have families at home that can't get out because of illnesses. So family members will come and take out five or six meals to bring home to have their meal."

If they're not picking it up, then people like Andrew Leibenguth are bringing it to them. This year, the Salvation Army of Tamaqua has seen delivery orders rise 50%.

"You want to enjoy your time with your family," said Leibenguth. "[You don't want to be] coming to a strange building. It's better to have it at your house."
