DUNMORE -- In light of the tragic events in Paris, students at Holy Cross High School in Dunmore prayed for peace by writing prayers on fabric and displaying them on a tree in front of the school.

The fabric was blue, white and red - the colors of the flag of France.

It's all part of the school's monthly tradition of praying for peace.

"When France happened, our theology department said what better way to be in solidarity than to pray for peace to the victims and their families," said Kathy Yaklic, Director of Religious Formation.

"It makes me see there really is good in the world and even though bad things do happen that the world can band together and come together and do something positive," said junior Allie Siock.

"I think it's beautiful and it really spread awareness of what we want to spread around the world and in our community," said Abigail Corrigan, junior.

The organizer hopes people in the community help take part and place their own ribbons on the tree. The ribbons will stay through Christmas.
