WILKES-BARRE -- Kids were trying to gain their "Passport to Science" in Wilkes-Barre Saturday.

Wilkes University held an open house filled with demonstrations and interactive projects.

Students in grades 4 through 9 joined university staff and students for some science fun.

"With our 'Passport to Science' program, we're trying to show young people in the community that science is great and science is fun," said Vicki Mayk, Director of Public Relations at Wilkes University. "We want to open up that world to them, so they'll consider it for future education and future careers."

Participants were given a "Passport to Science" that they could get stamped at each station at the event in Wilkes-Barre.
