UPDATE: On Tuesday, Felix Cabrera said a sheriff’s deputy showed up at the home and changed the locks. He is now living in an apartment down the street.

HAZLETON — Bare walls are pretty much all that’s left in Felix Cabrera’s home on Seybert Street in Hazleton.

He’s being evicted because a mortgage company says he owes money on a mortgage that isn’t even his.

Cabrera says he paid cash for the home in February of last year. He paid the money to his real estate agent Ignacio Beato.

It turns out, Cabrera doesn’t own the home at all. He says Beato gave him fake paperwork.

Now, the mortgage company wants the money it’s owed, so Cabrera is moving out.

“This is life, like when you walk and you trip. You try to keep up your step and walk more firmly,” said Cabrera.

The place was Cabrera’s dream home. He filled it with pictures of his family and furniture, but now, all of that is gone.

“I’m getting evicted tomorrow. As you see I’m evicted today already. I’m just picking up my little stuff, while that guy is still on the loose.”

Beato has not been charged with any crime and he hasn’t been seen in the Hazleton area since July.

Cabrera says it’s just not fair and he feels like no one is on his side.

“Justice is not helping me, but in the meantime if I do anything they come right after me?”

Cabrera and his family are now moving into an apartment in Hazleton.

He’s not sure how long he’ll have to stay there, but he does have a message for Beato.

“Look at your own family, because what you did? You don’t have a heart.”

We reached out to state police for any updates on the case, but our calls were not returned.

Felix Cabrera has an attorney who promises to help him in any potential criminal case against Beato, but that attorney could not help Cabrera stay in the home.
