WILKES-BARRE -- A man pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge in a disturbing case of animal cruelty in Wilkes-Barre.
In April, police say Donovan Mackey, 21, put his girlfriend's cat in the washing machine, killed it by slamming it against a wall, then put the remains in a garbage bag and threw it in the back yard.
According to officers, Mackey did it because his girlfriend wasn't home when he stopped by.
Mackey is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
