A former beauty queen, accused of faking cancer to get cash, spoke out from jail in Centre County Tuesday.
According to the Centre Daily Times Brandi Weaver-Gates is "sorry" and "asks for forgiveness."
Weaver-Gates was the reigning Miss Pennsylvania U.S. International. She is charged with theft for allegedly duping people into believing she was sick.
Weaver-Gates promises to pay the money back.
She was scheduled to appear in court in Centre County Wednesday, but waived her hearing.
