LAUREL RUN -- State police said two men are in custody after a reported carjacking that happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday at a recreation area in Laurel Run.

Police said Steven Brunson, 26, was meeting two men at Giants Despair Hill Climb Park in Laurel Run because they said they were interested in buying two dirt bikes.

But instead he said the men started shooting and carjacked his pickup truck with the bikes in the back.

He said he even lost his shoe trying to stop them.

The men took off with the victim's tan pickup truck, driving down Northampton Street toward Wilkes-Barre Township.

Ed Brooks, a witness who lives right across the street, heard the shots, the shouting, and the vehicle speed by. He called the situation terrifying.

Then around 4:30 p.m., state police took a tan pickup truck matching the description away on a wrecker on Mallory Place in Wilkes-Barre.

After 3 p.m., police began searching an apartment at the intersection of Stanley and Terrace Streets in Wilkes-Barre. U.S. Marshals had the place surrounded with guns drawn.

Two men were taken into custody to the state police barracks in Wyoming.
