NANTICOKE -- It's only July, but that didn't stop hockey players Saturday afternoon in Luzerne County.
Sticks were swinging at the Annual Hockey Fights Cancer Benefit at Quality Hill Park in Nanticoke.
There were hockey games of course, but there were also basket raffles, a dunk tank and a bounce house.
It was all to raise money for cancer patients at the Medical Oncology Associates in Kingston.
The organizer started it in honor of his mother who died from the disease.
"Keep my mom's memory going. She was very active in the community for anyone who needed a hand and its my duty to give back to the community and this is how I'm doing it," said Shawn Myers, organizer.
It's the third year for the event.
The benefit has raised about $3,000 for cancer patients in Luzerne County.
