CLARKS SUMMIT -- With one swing, 11-year-old James Flickinger of Waverly Township made his summer vacation and earned bragging rights for a lifetime.

"I didn`t think it was going in, but it had backspin on it and it just rolled in the hole. I ran down with joy, I was so happy," James said.

That moment secured James Flickinger as the youngest person to get a hole in one at The Country Club of Scranton in Clarks Summit.

James and his junior league captain and crew team that included his big brother Daniel had a score most grown men would envy: 29 on 9 holes. But, James was focused on that "1" now circled in red on his score card.

"I said a lot of things. I can't even remember. I was so happy," James said.

"I don't think he said anything. He just started screaming and he just ran down. It was awesome," added his brother Daniel.

The first thing James did was rush down the fairway with his brother to make sure the ball was really in the hole. And then he called his dad, Brad, who just so happens to be the club champion at The Country of Scranton and has also gotten a hole in one there.

"I called my dad and he was like, 'No way,' and then I had to put one of the guys that work here on the phone," James said.

That brief moment of disbelief was unmatched by mom's excitement.

"I stopped everything and just started...crying and laughing and screaming at the same time," said mom Beth.

James was a bit embarrassed by all the attention on the golf course, but the youngest child was happy his hole in one one-ups his 13-year-old brother.

Daniel was honest, as brothers are, about how he felt.

"A little jealous, but I'm a little proud," he said.

When asked what he would do next after achieving this pinnacle of his career, James said he just wanted to get in more practice.

"I think I could do it again pretty soon, like next year maybe," he said.

The kid has a lot to accomplish on the golf course, all before he's old enough to drive the cart.
