SCRANTON -- It's a sad day for the radio community in our area. Jay Daniels passed away Sunday.

For years, he was half of the "Daniels and Webster" team on Rock 107 in Scranton.

Jay Daniels worked at WEZX as an on-air personality for years, playing music and making people laugh.

If you ever listened to Rock 107 you know the names "Daniels and Webster." They were the on air radio duo who took northeast Pennsylvania by storm with their humor for 25 years.

Five years ago, Jay Daniels talked to Newswatch 16 about their long and successful run.

"It worked and we got along and next thing you know, he was part of a team and that was 25 years ago," said Daniels in an interview in 2010.

Jay Daniels died over the weekend after battling an illness for years. He was 61.

Newswatch 16 spoke with John Webster, his longtime on air sidekick.

"We had a lot of great times and a lot of great memories. I was sorry to hear the news today."

Webster left the Daniels and Webster radio gig in 2010 for another job.

Although he didn't see his former co-host after that, he recalled some of his favorite memories.

"We did a lot of weird things over the years, you know, we had an opportunity to drive tanks and fly in airplanes and broadcast from rooftops and all kinds of crazy stuff, so I guess the memories are what we have to hang on to. It's such a shame. I was sorry to hear the news today."

Some fans of the radio show were also sad to hear the news.

"That's too bad. He was very funny. Him and Daniels and Webster, listened to them on the way to work for years," said Scranton resident Michael Moran.
