SUNBURY -- Two police officers were honored in Northumberland County Monday.

The two got quite a surprise when they responded to a 911 call in Sunbury last month.

Within minutes of arriving at a home on Linden Street on May 14, they found a woman in labor.

Corporal Travis Bremigen and Patrolman Brad Slack helped deliver a healthy baby boy, named Alexander, to Mikayla Varga inside her home.

On Monday night, the two officers were honored at the Sunbury City Council meeting for their heroic efforts in baby Alexander's delivery.

The officers also got the chance to see Alexander and his mom again.

"I give credit to the mom in this. She's the one who had to endure the labor pains and us being there, but overall it's a great feeling to actually get to meet the baby," Cpl. Bremigen said.

This wasn't Cpl. Bremigen's first delivery on the job. He successfully delivered a baby two years ago.
