KINGSTON -- More than a million pizzas later, the doors are closing on one pizza shop in Luzerne County.

For nearly 24 years and in two locations, Rob Cardone and his brother Mark have been making pizzas on Schuyler Avenue in Kingston at the Pizza Mill. But that's all about to change for these two high school teachers looking to lessen their "homework" as it were.

"It will be a big relief with the weight of the world off our shoulders. It's a tough grind but its been good to us," said Mark Cardone, co-owner of the Pizza Mill.

Tom Roper of Pringle said, "I grew up around here. It's sad to see things go. Everything is changing you know."

The co-owners say while they're happy to be retiring and moving on, they're sad to see it all come to an end.

Mark added, "We're moving onto other things. We want to have some time with our families and do some traveling and catch up on lost time."

"I love doing this. I absolutely love doing this but it's time to slow down," said Robert Cardone, co-owner of the Pizza Mill. "We're ready to take this summer off and travel a little bit and enjoy life."

That being said, the Cardone's add they wouldn't have done a single thing differently.

"If I was 25 years old again, I would do it all over again. The same town, the same building with the same employees. I'll miss the employees, the customers and being able to make a pizza whenever I wanted to," said Rob.
