BUFFALO TOWNSHIP -- Because of the rough winter we had this year, many landscapers say they are experiencing a shorter but busier season.

Crews from Creative Plantscapes, a landscaping company near Lewisburg, did work at the Country Cupboard on Route 15.

"This time of year we're just doing basic property maintenance, pruning, weeding, leaf cleanup, mulching, edging," Brett Susan said.

Some landscapers in central Pennsylvania say they got a late start this year because of the long, hard winter.

Mike Derk is the owner of Creative Plantscapes. He says they can't do their work with snow on the ground.

"So what happens is we get started later and the schedules that we had made up beforehand, everything gets backlogged. It's been difficult. Everybody wants everything done all at once," Derk said.

"Everybody gets the spring itch and away we go," Susan said.

The company says it has almost a dozen crews out working and they're getting ready for two specific days.

"Memorial Day and Mother's Day," Susan said.

"Those are usually the two early ones and right now we're under the gun to try and get a lot of those done. The next one will be the 4th of July for picnics and stuff like that," Derk said.

Derk says the majority of his clients have been patient with the backlog. He recommends making your appointments well in advance if you call for a landscaper.
