BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP -- Investigators said a  man died in a mining accident in Susquehanna County Monday.

Investigators said the man was working at a quarry off North Road when he slipped on ice or loose material. A running saw he was working with fell on his legs. Emergency workers said he bled to death.

The Susquehanna County coroner identified the victim as Daniel Acker, 48, of the Montrose area.

First responders said they had to cut a fence leading to the property when they arrived.

The Department of Environmental Protection was called because they said there was bluestone mining going on at this quarry and there was no permit for such mining.

State police were also called in to investigate.
