LEWISBURG -- A personal trainer from the Lewisburg area is up for an international award: Fitness Business Summit's Personal Trainer of the Year. And he needs your votes.

Nisan Trotter spends his days training clients at Trot Fitness near Lewisburg. It's the gym he owns with his wife.

Trotter got the idea to start a gym when he joined one and got bored with his workouts. He and his wife Yorelis started Trot Fitness in Lewisburg with only two members.

"I can remember it to this day. It was dark out and sometimes I would be the only one there and we would have sessions and sometimes because there was no one to train, we wouldn't have sessions," Trotter recalled.

Fast forward to a few years later and Trot Fitness now has more than 200 members.

"That's a completely different story now, of course."

Now Trotter is being recognized on an international level. He is one of three finalists for the Fitness Business Summit's Personal Trainer of the Year award.

"The other two finalists, one is from Idaho and the other is from Canada, so we're representing from Lewisburg," he said.

Trotter says Fitness Business Summit, a global fitness brand, looked at biographies and qualifications of trainers all over the world and chose him. The company will fly Trotter and his wife to California later this week where the trainer of the year award will be announced.

"It does show that dreams can come true."

Trotter's clients say they may be more excited about the award than he is.

"To him, I think that he knows how we feel and I think for him, that's the big victory but the rest of us would like to see him have the title to go along with it," said Tara Humphrey of Lewisburg.

"He wants you to be successful and things like that and I want the same for him because he makes you want to give it right back at him," said Cindy Malriet of Lewisburg.
