Crash Slows I-81 in Lackawanna County

SCRANTON -- A crash involving a rig is slowing traffic on part of Interstate 81 in Lackawanna County.

The rig is hung up on the center divider of I-81 between the Dunmore/Throop exit (188) and the Dickson City/Main Avenue exit (190).

Troopers said the driver blew a tire. He was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital.

By 3 p.m. traffic on the southbound side was clear. Northbound traffic was clear by about 4:30 p.m.

    Wouldn’t have been nearly as bad is people payed attention to the signs. Instead a majority of the people drive right up until they HAVE to change lanes rather then taking the opportunities to merge well before that. I was stuck in that, I left 3 car lengths for a a majority of the time. 5 cars took the opportunity to merge. Happens every time there is some kind of lane closing. Common sense people……

    It’s a well drilling rig used in quarries. The company has nothing to do with gas drillng. Please get your info correct.
