STROUD TOWNSHIP -- Work started Monday on a new clinic at an animal shelter in the Poconos.
Crews started demolishing a building near Stroudsburg used by AWSOM Animal Shelter as an overflow shelter.
The new clinic will offer spaying and neutering for cats and dogs, along with exam rooms.
"This is going to be a low cost, no cost clinic for those who can't afford to go to the vets. We don't want to be in competition. That's not why we wanted this and envisioned this. We want places that people can bring their animals and really it's for the animals in Monroe County," explained Sandra Fellin.
The roughly $55,000 project is being paid for with donations.
Volunteers hope to have the clinic in Monroe County finished in June.
