Grandmother of Toddler Killed in Crash Also Dies

BRIAR CREEK TOWNSHIP -- A woman badly hurt in a crash that killed her young granddaughter has died.

Janice Petroff of Berwick was the driver of an SUV that hit a utility pole near Berwick last week.

Authorities confirm she died Wednesday in a hospital.

Petroff's granddaughter, 19-month-old Emma Nizneck, was thrown from the SUV and died.

Investigators have not said if the child was securely strapped into a child car seat.

Neighbors tell us MartzvilleĀ Road was icy when the deadly crash happened.
