DICKSON CITY -- Employees at Genetti Manor, officials from the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Lackawanna County, and the United States Secret Service met Monday evening to finalize the details for Vice President Biden's visit Tuesday night.

Nearly 1,200 forks, knives, and spoons are laid out with care on dozens of tables in the ballroom at Genetti Manor in Dickson City, but the most tedious work is the kind our cameras can't see.

Members of the United States Secret Service have been in the ballroom as much as Genetti's employees over the past few days in preparation for the guest of honor at this year's Friendly Sons of St. Patrick dinner.

Vice President Joe Biden will speak at the dinner in Lackawanna County.

Biden spoke at the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Pittston last year.

"Secret service has been in Scranton since last Thursday evening and they're preparing Genetti Manor for the vice president's arrival. We're getting some vital information on some of our guests so the secret service is aware of who is attending, but other than that, it hasn't been too disruptive, to be honest with you," said Jim Haggerty, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick president.

Haggerty says the vice president joins a long list of top politicians who have visited the St. Patrick's Day tradition.

Genetti Manor in Dickson City has hosted the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick dinner before, so it has hosted a lot of dignitaries because of it. The increased security isn't really new for Genetti Manor. It will be new for a lot of businesses on Main Street.

Some business owners across from Genetti Manor told Newswatch 16 that Main Street will be shut down to traffic while the vice president is at the dinner. The owners of Jewelry Traders say it will be a slow night but at least their sign will be seen by thousands.

"I don't think so, I don't think so, I mean it's Main Street, it's pretty busy, and we are visible," said Michael Calogero.
