Schools across our area are celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss with Read Across America.

On Tuesday morning, Newswatch 16's Tom Williams read The Tooth Book to the children at Schuyler Avenue Elementary in Kingston.

Their teacher Mrs. Patton even dressed the part as the Cat in the Hat.

Scott Schaffer read to kindergartners at Good Shepherd Academy in Kingston Tuesday morning. Scott read three books by Dr. Seuss to Mrs. Semanek's class: Green Eggs & Ham; Oh, The Places You'll Go; and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

On Tuesday, Newswatch 16's Stacy Lange read Green Eggs and Ham to the 300 students at Jefferson Elementary. The K-third graders were asked to wear red and white to school and many of them wore cat in the hat hats that they made in class.

On Monday,  Stacy read to Mrs. Waibel's second grade class at Neil Armstrong Elementary School in Scranton.
