SUGAR NOTCH -- A community said goodbye to a long time police chief in Luzerne County.
Sugar Notch Police Chief Christopher Pelchar, 38, died suddenly on Sunday in Wilkes-Barre.
He had been on the job for the past 12 years.
Friends said he will be remembered for his good sense of humor and being a wonderful father.
"Chris and I were very close from day one. He was a very personable individual and I must say that he was like part of the family for me and will be sorely missed," said Bill Davis, Sugar Notch Borough Mayor.
Pelchar grew up in Wilkes-Barre and leaves behind a wife and son.
