Woman Charged for Alleged Fraud Scheme

TOBYHANNA — An alleged scheme to swindle money from the federal government has a woman from Monroe County in trouble.

Darlene Loveless, 50, of Tobyhanna, has been indicted on fraud charges.

The feds said Loveless collected social security benefits on behalf of her daughter for three years even though she had received a hefty inheritance in 2007.

    This is a weird story. More like a personal matter crime not affecting our general community’s safety. Do they report EVERY SS scammer?

    I understand that this is fraud, buy 1,000’s of these cases are happening…. its not a headline story. Next please….

      As usual WNEP did not give the complete picture. According to another local news outlet the woman was collecting Supplemental Social Security Benefits which are limited based on income.
