WILKES-BARRE -- Snow was falling early Monday morning, but turned to ice and freezing rain in parts of our area.

Newswatch 16 found PennDOT trucks plowing but because the snow was so steady, it was tough keeping the roadways clear.

Temperatures were expected to rise slightly in southern counties, causing the snow to turn into freezing rain.

TOWANDA -- While southern cities might have to contend with some ice, the northern tier is expecting the snow to pile up.

Give yourself extra time for your commute if you have to leave the house Monday morning.
