SLOCUM TOWNSHIP -- State police in Luzerne County are investigating a reported shooting.
Troopers did say they were called to a home on Blue Ridge Trail near Mountain Top around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. They found Dillon Gommer, 20, with gunshot wounds.
They also found, outside the home, a bloody shirt in the yard and a gun on the ground.
"First I thought they were fireworks. I looked out and saw nothing, "said neighbor Aron Wright. "Usually pretty quiet around here. You only have one or two speeding cars go by once in a while but other than that, nothing like this."
Throughout the day, state police were constantly checking on the home as they continued their investigation.
Heather Conway lives right next to where it all happened and says she was busy wrapping Christmas presents on a typical evening, until it wasn't.
"My boyfriend jumped out of bed and said, 'What was that?' (I) said, 'Gunshots outside the kitchen window.' Cops showed up, ambulances showed up. It was crazy until about four o'clock in the morning."
Neighbors say they never expected to see something like this happen in their area especially during this time of the year.
"Does stuff like this typically happen in this area?"
"No, not at all, it's insane."
"This is the time of the year all the good is supposed to happen, not the bad, but we woke up today and heard about this, so we're praying for the boy that got hurt."
Investigators say Gommer was taken to the hospital and his injuries are not life-threatening.
