PARADISE TOWNSHIP -- It's been three months since the deadly attack on the Blooming Grove barracks in Pike County.

The shooting took the life of Corporal Bryon Dickson. Trooper Alex Douglass continues his long road to recovery.

Many of the Blooming Grove troopers wives say the attack on the barracks four months ago was life changing.

Now they've created the group "We Are Blooming Grove" and have organized a huge fundraiser this weekend in the Poconos, all aimed at giving back to the Dickson and Douglass families.

The September Blooming Grove barracks shooting has left its mark on many in the Poconos.

The deadly attack killed Corporal Bryon Dickson and badly hurt Trooper Alex Dougalss.

Lena Wasylyk's husband works as a trooper at that barracks.

She and the other wives have now banded together, forming the group "We Are Blooming Grove."

"These are our guys. The Pennsylvania State Police is a family, and when tragedy happens, it doesn't happen to one person, it happens to us all. It's something that we're very connected to," said Wasylyk.

Wasylyk and the other wives have been busy collecting donations and making beautiful baskets. They now have about 150 in total for a tricky tray and silent auction fundraiser this weekend at Mount Airy Casino Resort.

All of the proceeds will go to the Dickson and Douglass families.

"We wanted to give them something significant. The holidays are coming, it's a hard time of year, and we wanted to do something to make that a little bit easier for them," said Wasylyk.

If you don't win a prize, you can still walk away with one. The Blooming Grove wives designed a commemorative ornament, and will be selling them this Sunday.

But if you do win, you could win big.

Mount Airy has tossed in one of the grand prizes that includes a hotel, spa and restaurant certificates just for starters.

"It's important to Mount Airy, it's important to the community, and it's a way for us to give back and help embrace the community and help move past this tragedy," said Mount Airy Casino Resort VP of marketing and player development Vincent Jordan.

There are also signed sports jerseys, a guitar from Aerosmith, Dewalt drills, fire pits and more. It's a tricky tray event that is working to turn something positive out of the tragedy just a few months ago.

"This is going to stay with us, so we pray that this is the last time that we have to do anything like this and that our guys and our ladies stay safe," said Wasylyk.

The "We Are Blooming Grove" tricky tray and silent auction is going to be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos.
