A very young Bison Bucknell Basketball team began it's season looking for scorers and leaders.  Freshman J.C. Show from Abington Heights is already stepping forward in  that regard.  Show the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year last season is taking those tentative steps from High School star to College contributor.

'He's going through some of the Freshman learning curve in terms of taking care of the ball, working defensively" said Bucknell Head Coach Dave Paulsen.  Dave enthused, "But the thing about J.C. he is a tough, competitive, kid.  he seven points in the last two minutes of our win against Marist.  We wanted him on the floor down the strech.  He's going to make some mistakes, some Freshman mistakes."  Paulsen added, "But, I don't think he's going to be the type of kid who's going to bow his head when he makes a mistake.  I think he is going to come back.  We gathered our group at the beginning of practice, the player that usually speaks is a Captain or a Senior.  It was J.C. today as a Freshman after two Collegiate games. " Coach concluded, "That bodes well for him and our team."

We asked Show about the difficulty of transferring from High School to College ball.  Was it more difficult on the offensive or defensive end.?

"Umm, probably the defense, just grasping the system of where we want to plays guys and we're playing a lot of good players"  said the Freshman.  J.C. continued "Coach Paulsen is always talking about multiple actions.  So, you have to be able to do one, two, three, things every time.  Again it's the level of consistency, just being able to do the right thing on the court."  remarked Show.

You can call Bucknell maybe the Baby Bison.  They start just one Senior.  So, it's a young team with a learning curve and hopefully down the line this team can mature rather quickly.
