LEWISBURG -- Not surprisingly it was the race between the two "Toms" that brought many people out to vote in Union County.

Governor Tom Corbett and challenger Tom Wolf are battling it out for votes.

Even though there were only a few races on the ballot, election officials in Union County say voter turnout was steady.

There was a steady stream of people walking into the Public Library for Union County near Lewisburg. They were not there to read books but to read the ballots.

"I've never missed an election since I turned 21. I'm 66 and I'm continuing to vote and keep that tradition going," said East Buffalo Township resident Andy Anderson.

Inside the library, poll workers did not get much of a break.

Judge of Elections John Graham says the line was steady all day.

"Normally there's a big surge in the morning when the polls open and then after about an hour or so it dies down and gets really slow, but that hasn't been the case today. We've pretty much had people steadily coming in," Graham said.

It's no surprise, but people say the main reason they're coming out to the polls this year is because of the race between Governor Tom Corbett and challenger Tom Wolf.

"Education is the big thing, of course. The governor race is the hot topic, so education, Marcellus shale," said Dr. Donna Pinter of East Buffalo Township.

In Union County, there were only three races on the ballot, but the race for governor was the one people talked about.

"I think on both sides that race has generated a lot of interest, particularly since most Pennsylvania governors have gotten reelected and this one may not. We'll see by the end of the day," said Graham.
