SOUTH CANAAN TOWNSHIP -- An early morning fire destroyed a home in Wayne County.

According to officials, the home at the corner of Mill Brook and Hemlock Roads south of Waymart went up just after 12 a.m. on Monday.

Firefighters said the family of three who lived there got out okay.

Newswatch 16 spoke with a neighbor who helped the family chased out by the flames and helped find her neighbor's husband.

"And I kept screaming for Joey. Joey. Joey. I told Cheryl he's here, he's here. Once we found that out, the rest didn't matter," said Julie Satre.

According to Satre, she woke up when she  heard a banging on her door and knew something was wrong.

"And Cheryl came running in with little guy Dylan in her arms. She says 'Joey's next door and the house is on fire.' I came out and the blazes were unbelievable. Everything was just one big flame," said Satre.

The fire victims said they plan to stay with family.

A fire marshal has been called in to figure out what started the massive fire in Wayne County.
