JERMYN-- An event in Lackawanna County gave those with spinal cord injuries a chance to try water skiing.

The non-profit group Individual Abilities in Motion offered adaptive skiing today at Chapman Lake near Jermyn.

Adaptive skiing uses specially designed wakeboards to give people who use wheelchairs an opportunity to experience the summertime sport.

The organizers of the event said activities like this are important because they help people with spinal cord injuries celebrate their abilities.

Organizers said an opportunity like this would not have been possible without the help of volunteers and their friends at Leaps of Faith Adaptive Water Skiing.
