WILKES-BARRE -- A teenager said he was assaulted and robbed early Saturday morning along George Avenue and Parkin Street.

The 17 year old told police three people attacked him just after midnight and stole $40.

Wilkes-Barre Police said the thieves also took the victim's cell phone, but gave it back when the saw it was passcode protected.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the robbers.

Why doesn’t this sound right? If the kid was truly robbed, I’m glad he wasn’t hurt but, sounds more to me like he needed an excuse for losing $40. I doubt they’d give the phone back because of a password they could have gotten out of him as easily as the money.

“Can you write me a note for my mom saying you robbed me? Otherwise she’ll think I bought drugs with the cash”

Not for nothing, just what I was thinking, we had someone(s) pull this on us ALL the time..finally fessed up, but rather than admit THAT, they still insisted they were robbed. Hope we’re both wrong! What’s a 17 yr old doing out at midnite anyway?

Yeah here you can have your cellphone back. We don’t know the passcode and we won’t make you tell us the code. Here’s your phone back. LOL
