Home Struck by Lightning

LANSFORD -- One person was sent to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a home was struck by lightning according to the 911 center.

It happened at a house on East Patterson Street in Lansford. There is some damage to the chimney on the house.

Dispatchers said the person who was hurt was not directly hit by the lightning strike.

There is no word on the condition of the person.

    I don’t understand why Pennsylvania does not have it in their building codes, as other states dom that lightening rods are required to be on your roof – While it doesn’t totally eliminate the chance for a fire, it does reduce it because all of the potential energy is transferred from the rod down into the ground
