UPDATE: MONDAY — Pennsylvania American Water customers in Dunmore and Scranton no longer have to boil their water before use.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has authorized lifting of the precautionary advisory after tests on Sunday and Monday.
LACKAWANNA COUNTY — Parts of Scranton and Dunmore are under a boil water advisory.
Pennsylvania American Water issued the advisory late Saturday night for the East Mountain and Mt. Margaret sections.
The advisory covers about 350 homes and businesses. People affected should boil their water before drinking it, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth or preparing food.
PA American Water says the water level is low in a storage tank serving that area, and there’s a chance that contaminated water could get into the system.
The boil advisory applies to the following streets:
