Fire Displaces Eleven People in Northumerland County

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP -- Two homes were damaged and eleven people need to find somewhere else to live after a fire in Northumberland County.

The blaze broke out around 9:30 Sunday morning at a home on Main Street in Locust Gap.

The fire chief said Route 54 was shut down while crews fought the fire.

Officials said one home is completely destroyed but the other one may be salvaged.

As fire crews battled the flames, they also had to deal with the heat and humidity outside.

Dalton Green, firefighter, said, "It's definitely fatiguing, you get dehydrated quickly, your adrenaline is going, you sweat. It's not an easy job. It takes a special person to do this job and keep doing it ."

According to authorities, no one was hurt in the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation in Northumberland County .
