WILKES-BARRE -- Kids came out to Coal Street Park for a kick-off party Wednesday evening for a program aimed at keeping kids healthy and well fed this summer.

Food-n-Fun at the Park is a program in Wilkes-Barre that helps 500 city kids and teens. The Wilkes-Barre YMCA, along with the city of Wilkes-Barre, and the Commission on Economic Opportunity put on the program.

This is the fourth summer for the program that provides supervised activities, games, and events. Free snacks and lunches are also provided on weekdays during the summer at 5 city parks and the YMCA in the city.

Those parks are Coal Street Park, Iron Triangle Playground, Madison/Flood Park, Huber Park, and Miners Memorial Park.

The program is free and does not require registration and runs from June 17 through August 15.
