CENTRALIA -- A time capsule buried in Columbia County is intact after vandalism over the weekend.

Members of the American Legion noticed the stone marker on top of the time capsule was vandalized.

On Monday, they dug up the capsule and found it was still sealed.

American Legion members said they plan to re-bury the capsule and cover it with large boulders until its scheduled opening in 2016.

Centralia was once a booming mine town in Columbia County, but now there are fewer than ten people living here after an underground fire started in 1962.
