MOOSIC — There was a special gift for cancer survivors on Tuesday at Empire Beauty Schools: a free beauty service.

We found those who battled cancer taking advantage of that offer at the Empire Beauty location in Moosic.

The school was taking part in Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day.

It’s a chance to make all who battled cancer feel supported and appreciated, no matter how old they are or when they had cancer.

“I was surprised. I had a benign tumor turn malignant when I was in high school and they removed the whole one third of the bottom rib,” said Joe Bucalo of Moosic. “It was very traumatic but I lived through it.”

It wasn’t just haircuts. Another cancer survivor was getting her nails done thanks to Empire Beauty School.
