WILKES-BARRE — New developments in the mail carrier’s death after a fire at her home in April.

State police now say the fire at Laurie Merritt’s home last month was intentionally set.

The fire on April 14th started in the attic of Merritt’s home on Wyoming Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Merritt was found unconscious and taken to the hospital where she died.

According to court papers, Merritt’s family members believe an ex-boyfriend may be responsible for the fire, but criminal charges have not yet been filed.
