HONESDALE -- A big honor was handed to two schools in Wayne County on Monday.
The state's Acting Secretary of Education stopped by Honesdale High School to present students and staff with the Governor's Award for Excellence.
It's given to schools for outstanding achievement which amounts to scoring higher than 90 on a state performance scale.
"It's been a lot of hard work put in by students. And their parents who are very supportive of behavioral and academic standards we set for students. Also think it's a reflection on our teachers," said Wayne Highlands Middle School Principal Chris Pietraszewski.
The two schools honored Monday morning include Wayne Highlands Middle School and Preston Area School.
