FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — Crews in Carbon County are cleaning up a truck fire that shut down a lane on part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Wednesday morning.

It happened in a southbound lane at mile marker 78 near the Mahoning Valley and Pocono exit around 5:30 a.m.

According to responders, the driver noticed something was wrong when the truck’s dashboard lights and motor shut off.

The truck, that was carrying produce, caught fire.  The driver quickly pulled off the road and got out safely.

Authorities believe one southbound lane will be shut for several hours as crews clean up the truck fire.
