SCRANTON — It was a cold, windy day for the annual raising of the Irish flag on Courthouse Square in Scranton.

Lackawanna County officials, members of the Irish Cultural Society, step dancers and bagpipers took part in the flag raising ceremony at noon.

The Irish flag will replace the state flag through St. Patrick’s day on Monday.

Scranton’s St. Patrick’s parade steps off Saturday at 11:45.
