TOBYHANNA -- Kids put their brains to the test in the Northeast Pennsylvania Odyssey of the Mind regional tournament in Monroe County.

About 100 teams competed in the creative problem-solving tourney at Pocono Mountain West high school on Saturday.

One team had to build a bat mobile as part of its problem, something one of the team members says was the biggest challenge.

"We had a few dead ends with a few propulsion systems. We had a lot of frustration and torn hair, but at the end of the day, we did get the wheels together and we got it to run perfectly," said Andrew McCarthy of Notre Dame Jr/Sr high school.

Winners of the regional tournament advance to the state finals in Berwick next month.
