SALEM TOWNSHIP -- A contractor in Wayne County that plows snow is among small businesses across the commonwealth getting state grant money to be more energy efficient.

The owners of Grassie and Sons near Hamlin will use the $6,600 they received to replace indoor and outdoor lights with ones that save more energy.

“Anytime we can save is going to help us on our fuel and the tires for our dump trucks. Everything's expensive now so anything we can do to save is definitely going to help us out,” said George Grassie.

Grassie says those lights will be replaced in the next few weeks in Wayne County.

PP&L sends me letters every month with how much electric I use and how much more it is than my neighbors. Nothing I can do about it. And these people get $6600 and a grant yet?! I’m in a wheelchair and can’t afford medicine. I’m supposed to take $23,000 medicine annually and my income is $17,000. I can’t get any help except if I divorce my wife of 32 years. $6,600 grant?! A whole bunch have to go come election time!
